The Girl, The Interview, The Twist, The Flip - Part I

Diane Sawyer interviewed John Kerry on Good Morning America. This must be a first - Kerry accusing the media, especially Diane Sawyer, of twisting his words. And Kerry's reputation as a flip-flopper is well earned in this part of the interview.

DIANE SAWYER: Was the war in Iraq worth it?
JOHN KERRY: We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today.
DS: So it was not worth it.
JK: ...depends on the outcome ultimately...that depends on the leadership. And we need better leadership to get the job done successfully, but I would not have gone to war knowing that there was no imminent threat, there were no weapons of mass destruction...no connection to Al Qada, to Saddam Hussein! The president misled the American people plain and simple. Bottom line.
DS: So if it turns out okay, it was worth it?
JK: No.
DS: But right now it wasn't.
JK: It was a mistake to do what he did, but we have to succeed now that we've done what he's, I mean look,we have to succeed. But was it worth, as you asked the question, $200 billion and taking the focus off of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? That's the question. The test of the presidency was whether or not you should have gone to war to get rid of him. I think, had the inspectors continued, had we done other things, there were plenty of ways to keep the pressure on Saddam Hussein.
DS: But no way to get rid of him.
JK: Oh, sure there were. Oh, yes there were. Absolutely.
DS: So you're saying that today, if Saddam Hussein were in power today it would be a better thing, you would prefer that . . .
JK: No, I would not prefer that. And Diane, don't twist here.

Flip one: Kerry: "We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today." Wait a minute, John, last month you said, "Knowing what I know now I would have still voted for it." (authorization to go to war).

Flip two: Sawyer: So it( Iraq war)was not worth it.
Kerry: ...it depends on the outcome ultimately...
Sawyer: So if it turns out okay, it was worth it?
Kerry: No
Wait a minute, John - you just said it depends on the ultimate outcome as to whether the war was worth it. Now you say no, it's not. You just flipped in the space of one paragraph!

Flip three: Kerry:" ...but I would not have gone to war knowing that there was no imminent threat - there was no weapons of mass destruction." Wait John. You said on Oct 2, 2002," I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction is a real & grave threat to our security."

You also said, John, on Jan 23, 2003, in regards to Saddam, " He is a particularly grievious threat because he is so consistantly prone to miscalculation...So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real."

And again, May 3, 2003( Primary Debate), "I said at the time I would have preferred if we had given diplomacy a greater opportunity, but I think it was the right decision to disarm Saddam Hussein, & when the President made the decision, I supported him, & I support the fact that we did disarm him."

Again: In your Sept 2002 New York Times op-ed: "If Saddam Hussein is unwilling to bend to the international community's already existing order, then he will have invited enforcement...even if that enforcement is mostly at the hands of the United States, a right we retain even if the Security Council fails to act."

But then, last month: "This is the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Is it any wonder why voters have no clue where Kerry stands on Iraq? It smells of opportunism on his part. And it is. But the guy can't get his story straight, not even in the same interview. It is a wonder that Kerry's supporters can defend him with a straight face. But maybe they can't. Besides, Kerry is the victim here. Diane Sawyer is "twisting" his words, although he's done a pretty good job without Diane's help. Go home, John. Game over.

The Girl, The Interview, The Twist, The Flip - Part II

Diane Sawyer interviewed John Kerry on Good Morning America. The victim status that Kerry places himself in is amazing.

DIANE SAWYER: The polls show 53 percent of the voters in the recent poll think that you change your mind too often. George Bush has 59 percent of a clear stand on the issues — you have 28 percent. Is there any way in which you're responsible for that?
JOHN KERRY: I think their advertising and their — their effort over these last months to use that word have been particularly successful. I give them credit for it. But it doesn't reflect the truth. See what the Republicans do — and they love to do — and they're very good at it — and they've spent millions of dollars doing it — is just find a little sentence here and find a little sentence there — and take it out of context. That's why I look forward to this debate, because it's an opportunity to be able to really let the American people know the truth and know where you stand.

Maybe, John, just maybe, the problem is you & not the machinizations of George Bush & Carl Rove. If Republican advertising can bring you down to only 28% of people believing you have a clear stand on issues, then your election hopes are over now. Go home. And ask your own ad agencies for your millions back, since apparently they failed you. And I guess the past year you spent running in the Democratic primaries was of no help to you in getting your clear positions & issues out to the people. Republicans take you statements out of context, you claim. They twist & distort. But there is no need for them to do that - you are a wealth of contradictions & fuzziness. The truth is that you are primarily responsible for that 28%. Your attempts to be all things to all people has only blurred anything that you might stand for. You are caught in an unfocused issues hell of your own making. It is a self-imposed trap that you can not escape & any attempts to do so will beget internal contradictions which your opponents will quickly seize on, as they are doing already. So you are relegated to victim status now. A self-created victim.

But you are always the victim, John. You fall off skis & blame "that son of b**tch" Secret Service Agent. A questionable statement is made by you & you blame your staff. The famous, "I actually voted for the $87 billion authorization before I voted against it", now happened, you claim, because it was very late at night & you were oh so tired & that caused you to mispeak. Even though, it now turns out, it was noon when you made the statement. Stop being a victim John. People don't like self-defined victims or whiners. How can voters expect strong leadership from you when you play victim or fuzzy up your positions? How can the voters trust you to be strong in office when you, like so many liberals, refuse to take personal responsibility for your life? Libs love to throw out the "it's Bushes fault" line. In your case, John, it's everyones fault but yours.

Oakland Cops Halt Checks for DUIs

Activists say roadblocks unfair to unlicensed immigrants

This headline from the "Daily Review Online" says it all, doesn't it? Political correctness gone absurd! Oakland police, as in many jurisdictions, hold random roadchecks in search for drunk drivers & in the process also discover unlicensed drivers, uninsured drivers & other violations. Besides getting drunk drivers off the road, the police get these unlicensed drivers off the road too. But, no more.

Thanks to jackass political sensitivities & kowtowing to Hispanic activist groups, the Oakland police have stopped such dastardly activity, because boo-hoo, the police have discovered in these checks illegal aliens with no drivers license or insurance or proper registration. Not to mention the fact that they are freaking illegally in this country! The illegal alien's cars, boo-hoo, are towed. The poor illegals are only going to or from work or driving their kids somewhere or going grocery shopping, boo-hoo. Illegal alien kids crying because their Daddy's car is being towed. Geesh - what Nazi cops we have in this stinking country! Well guess what? So are a lot of legal U.S. citizens going about their business. So are a lot of legal citizens' cars being towed. Do these idiot Hispanic activists want signs at police roadchecks that say, "Drunks only stop, everyone else going about their business please continue on?" Or, "If you are illegal, please drive by, unless you are drunk - then drive up to the drunk line." Where are these activist's sense of responsibility to their community & the country? Obviously, they have none.

Now Oakland police are reviewing new guidelines, so that they do not offend the poor illegals, including prior notification to the Latino community of where & when the roadside check will be. Well - duh! Let all us drunks avoid that area after we've sloshed down our brew.

I don't know where Madd (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) stands on this issue. But they were in the forefront in pushing for roadside checks. They should be livid.

I am quickly coming to the conclusion that an Israeli-type wall along our southern border is not such a bad idea. Read the Oakland DUI original article here.

Because of these wrong-minded, nay, pig activists & their moronic protection of illegal aliens, some of us will die.

Iraqi Bloggers

Five Iraqi links have been added to this site. Scroll down on the left to the "Links" section. These are Iraqi bloggers posting from...ta da...Iraq. Prior to the war, access to a computer was severely restricted to a select few. Since then, there has been a groundswell of computer use. And Iraqi internet cafes are popping up all over the place. Their insight into what is happening in Iraq is interesting. Each blog has links to additional Iraqi blogs.

Disloyal to America - Kerry Redux

John Kerry lives in a space/time continuum separate from the rest of the world. He has managed to go from his disloyal-to-America days of the 1970's straight into 2004, skipping the intervening years by way of a worm-hole, & picking up from where he left off. The latest Kerry-Edwards television ad bemoans the problems in Iraq, stating that terrorists are pouring into Iraq, that there are kidnappings & murders & calling Iraq a quagmire. The ad carries a calculated defeatist attitude, designed to invalidate & distort the progress being made in Iraq, since only if Kerry can ignore the positive & accentuate the negative in Iraq can he hope to dispirit Americans & bring voters to his side. This is not only a crass & base attempt at dislodging support for the war with the American voter so that he can realize his egotistical life-long dream of being President, but it is again another shameful act of disloyalty against this country.

But this is nothing new with Kerry. Zoom back through his worm-hole to the '70's in the blink of an eye & we see the same disloyal Kerry during the Vietnam "quagmire", as the anti-war crowd put it. Here we see Kerry again in his attempts to dispirit the country in the middle of a war so that he could make a name for himself & further his political aspirations. His infamous speech to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971 is full of lies, deceits, embellishments & pathetically naive analysis of the Cold War. His claim to fame in that speech was his savage attack on U.S. soldiers, accusing them of war crimes & giving patently untruthful accounts about them brutalizing & sacking Vietnam. Read the speech here.

John Kerry in that speech also disavowed Communism as a world threat & discounted those who saw such a threat as throw-backs to a Cold War mentality. He saw no imminent threat to America & thus no reason to be in Vietnam. He said that America couldn't fight Communism the world over & that we had our Polaris submarines to protect against threats. Little did he realize that 30 years later Communism would be replaced with Terrorism as a world threat & that a Polaris could do little to stop a WMD attack. He had the naive & ignorant view that any type of government is okay, as long as the people get what they want & if they don't then all they have to do is remove that government.

The 1970's Kerry was an oracle of doom & gloom about Vietnam. His testimony & actions undermined the war effort at that time & encouraged the enemy to hang tough. He sought to discredit any notions that the United States was achieving success in Vietnam & repeatedly gave the false impression that the Vietnamese people did not want us there. He held a blind eye to the atrocities of the enemy. He refused to see that what he called a civil war was really a Communist insurgent attack on the South Vietnamese government, backed by an invading North Vietnamese army & supplied by the Chinese & Russians. He was seriously lacking in understanding the geo-political dynamics of those times. But that didn't stop his diatribe against America.

Zoom forward again to the present. In the mush that is his Iraq policy, he again plays the defeatist & naysayer of American policy in an engagement against the bad guys. Kerry would have you believe nothing good is happening in Iraq, contrary to this.

When the Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi came to the U.S. the other day, Kerry responded, "I think the prime minister is, obviously, contradicting his own statement of a few days ago, where he said the terrorists are pouring into the country. The prime minister and the president are here obviously to put their best face on the policy, but the fact is that the CIA estimates, the reporting, the ground operations and the troops all tell a different story." Kerry advisor Joe Lockhardt was even more reprehensible when he said, "The last thing you want to be seen as is a puppet of the United States, and you can almost see the hand underneath the shirt today moving the lips", referring to Bush/Allawi press conference.

Kerry was chided for his remarks by Dick Cheney & others as being negative & unproductive, considering that Kerry as President would have to work with PM Allawi. So much for improving ties with allies as he claims he will do. Consider this response to Kerry.

Kerry is indeed a graceless, little man. And disloyal. His only interest is getting elected & if it takes bashing & undermining the Iraq situation & encouraging the enemy, as he did in Vietnam, then he will do it in a heart beat. The man has no honor.

eating-Crow Broadcasting System

eCBS & Dan Rather, a week too late, has admitted, kinda, that the Bush Guard memos could not be vouched for "journalistically". A euphemism for "oops, we got caught." Playing the victim, they stated that they were "misled" on how the source for the documents came into possession of that person. They could not prove that the documents were "authenticate". A euphemism for "oops, we got caught." That & "some of the questions raised in public" led Rather to a point where if he knew then what he knows now he would not have aired the story. (Ya think?!). Another euphemism for, "oops, we got caught."

Rather continues, "But we did use the documents. We made a mistake in judgment, and for that I am sorry. It was an error that was made, however, in good faith and in the spirit of trying to carry on a CBS News tradition of investigative reporting without fear or favoritism."

Here's the real deal: Rather claims they've been working on the story 5 years. They were warned by 2 document experts that the documents were probably fake. The source of the memos is a Kerry supporter & fund raiser. The one handwriting expert they used was not self admittedly qualified to examine the memos. Yet they proceeded to air the show.

Within hours of airing, bloggers determined the memos were fake & were quickly followed by dozens of qualified document examiners who called the memos fake. But Rather & eCBS with their arrogant heads up their butts responded by saying they had irrefutable proof the memos were real. Rather brusquely waived off those who questioned them as "partisan."

Well, they dug their own hole. Now they can wallow in their own mudraking. They have still to use the word "fake" while covering their tracks & they still need to come clean about a possible connection to the Kerry camp. In their rush to help Kerry & bash Bush they got caught in a fraud. This from the network which claims it has a tradition of reporting without favoritsm, which in itself is a fraudulent statement.

Think the Swift Boat Vets are tough on Kerry? Check these guys out. You don't want to get them mad at you. Kerry is the original girlie man according to them.

Guard Officer Denies Seeking Help For Bush

An alert commentor brought this to my attention. General Walter Staudt's name was on the infamous fake CBS memo in which it was claimed that he was using pressure against Bush's commander, Lt. Col. Killian, to help "sugarcoat' Bush's performance in the Guard. But Gen. Staudt left the Guard 1 1/2 yrs before the memo was written. Now for the first time Gen. Staudt talks about it & reveals the memo for the fraud it is. Memo to Dan Blather - retire or get fired.

C B S - Crummy Broadcasting System

Dan Blather

The other night on CBS's "60 Minutes 2" Dan Rather presented a segment on Bush's National Guard service & focused on a purported memo written by his Commander which could prove damning or at least embarrassing to Bush. The next day, thanks to the power of the blogosphere & its investigations, that memo was discredited as a fake.

Since that initial discrediting, countless experts on the subject have come out & also denounced the memo as a fake. Even the liberal Washington Post & Los Angeles Times say the game is up for CBS.

However, CBS & Dan Blather, Rather I mean, have hunkered down & have defended the memo & insist it is a true copy of an original existing memo from Bush's Commander. The methodology of CBS is suspect when they 'checked' the authenticity of the memo. Suffice it to say that from what I've read, CBS either perpetrated a fraud on its viewers or were scammed. Either way, CBS should have the journalistic professionalism & ethics to find this out.

But they haven't & they won't - they are in the bunker mentality. What they had hoped would be a satisfactory bashing of Bush & a way to effect the election has turned on them. Rather(excuse the pun) than be honest & ethical & professional, they will prefer to ruin their reputation in broadcast journalism, & Dan Blather will fade into the sunset of his employment with a big dose of egg on his face & a tarnished image. They both deserve it. This is liberal media bias & arrogance at its worse.

Dan Blather made one statement to the effect that the longer it takes the White House to deny the statements in the memo(regardless whether it is a fraud), the more truthful the memo appears to be. Rather is an idiot. This is a journalist?! It cuts both ways - I can type a memo that says Dan Rather dresses up like a 42nd St. hooker in his home. Gee - the longer it takes for good old Dan to deny it, the more truthful my memo appears to be. What a jerk. Boycott CBS - the Crummy Broadcasting System. Why Kerry Will Lose

John Kerry at a "front porch" meeting in Canonsburg, Pa the other day:

"Everybody told me, 'God, if you're coming to Canonsburg, you've got to find time to go to Toy's (a restaurant), and he'll take care of you.' I understand it's my kind of place, because you don't have to - you know, when they give you the menu, I'm always struggling: Ah, what do you want?

"He just gives you what he's got, right? And you don't have to worry, it's whatever he's cooked up that day. And I think that's the way it ought to work, for confused people like me who can't make up our minds."

John Kerry has a problem. Kerry has yet to define himself to...himself. Kerry does not yet know who he is or, rather, who he wants to be when he grows up. He is confused & can not make up his mind. His flip-flops cover a wide array of subjects & are well documented & available to anyone who takes the time to check them out. He is seen as coming down on both sides of an issue, sometimes within days. Thus the jokes about Flipper, etc. There is truth in jest.

Kerry may have some core beliefs - may have, that is. However, if he does, then he subjugates them to the political expediency of playing to the particular audience at hand & saying what he thinks will stroke that audience. An example is when he spoke in Michigan to auto workers & bragged about the SUV he owns. Soon after in front of an environmental group he fudged ownership of an SUV by saying he doesn't own one - his family does.

This may play well to a single-issue focused group, i.e., owns an SUV for the auto crowd, but doesn't own one for the environmental crowd. But it is dishonest. Beyond being dishonest & smacking of pandering, the parts do not add up to the whole. When seen in the whole it shows a man who doesn't know where he is at or who he is. Definitive positions have never been Kerry's mainstay.

If Kerry can not define himself or his positions without the doubletakes, without the nuances, without the shifting beliefs, then how can he expect the average voter to define his positions in a lucid manner? How can he expect an electorate to vote for him when they are unclear why they are voting for him or for what he believes? It is not enough to hope that the electorate votes only for Kerry because they dislike Bush. Betting on this alone, then all hope will fall short of the 271 electoral votes needed.

Yet, John Kerry has not learned this lesson. After flipping back & forth on his position about the Iraq war, he shocked some supporters last month when he said that even knowing Saddam did not have WMD's & knowing what he knows now, he would still support the war. But yet again, the other day he said that this is "the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place." It's the core beliefs, stupid, or lack of them.

Like that restaurant he spoke of, Kerry's beliefs are "whatever he's cooked up that day" which confuses not only Kerry, but the voter as well.

And this is why John Kerry will lose the election.

Russian Encounter With Terrorism

Over 150 dead children of over 340 dead total-and counting. Over 500 wounded-and counting. This is courtesy of the 20 plus now dead so-called humans, who are also so-called Muslims, who decided to go on a slaughter spree at a Russian school. The enormity of the slaughter is sickening. The manner in which innocents were slaughtered is sickening. Children, as well as adults, were shot in the back as they fled the school. Others were shot point blank in the school, while others still were killed from the explosives these great followers of Allah wired in the gym. But these innocents were not spared an easy time in the days they were alive in that gym. Photos of the attack & victims' stories.

These Muslim heroes packed them all in a stifling hot gym. They refused food & water to these innocents for 3 days. Children were reduced to drinking their own urine to stave off dehydration. They were refused access to toilets which ironically may have saved some from dehydration. There are reports that up to 1,500 were held in that gym. Can you imagine?

The killers, or soldiers of Allah as they would probably prefer, were from the Chechnya region & included Arab brethren amongst them. They demand an independent Chechen Republic separate from Russia. They go about their goals through pure terror. The slaughter of innocents is of no matter to them. Last week it was 2 Russian planes. In 2002 it was an opera house in Moscow where 129 died. If they are not stopped it will continue.

The carnage in this small Russian town should be a wake up call to all civilized nations that terrorists respect no national borders or boundaries of decent behavior. They will continue with their perverted actions, under the banner of their perverted religious beliefs, & continue to slaughter innocents until or unless they are squashed like the cockroaches that they are. These are the Islamic scum we are dealing with & if they can cause a similar attack on an American school they will do it in a second.

It is time for all nations to stand together to fight this scourge. However, easier said then done when we have the likes of the cowardly, submissive Spain & the likes of a French government who will obstruct in the UN while paying ransom for French citizens held hostage.

The fight against terror will be that much more difficult, also, because Arab governments, Muslim leaders & the Arab population in general pays lip service to the fight against terror. The silence & lack of public outrage by these fine, fine, Arabs demonstrates where their sympathy lies, if not their actual support. It is time they preach what they supposedly practice in their religion or they will degrade their religion to nothing more than a cult or pagan practice in the eyes of the world.

Considering that the vast amount of terror in the world seems to be coming from Islamic followers, it makes you wonder if there is something seriously flawed in that religion or seriously flawed in its followers.

The Associated Press - Bits & Pieces of Lies, Oh My!

The Associated Press (AP) is a worldwide news service for thousands of newspapers which use & rely on the AP as their newsfeed. The AP recently sent out a news story about a rally with George Bush in attendance. Herewith (bold highlight by me):

WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush on Friday wished Bill Clinton "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery." "He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally. Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them. Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."

Anyone reading this would naturally assume that the rally attenders were a bunch of cold hearted bastards booing at Clinton's misfortune. And how dare President Bush not stop them in their tracks & admonish them! I'm not voting for that pig if that's how he reacts.

Just one teeney weeney thing wrong about this article. No one in the crowd booed. So there was no reason for Bush to stop what never happened. In fact, there were sounds of gasps or oohs from the audience when it was announced about Clinton. After many complaints to the AP, they saw fit to send out a corrected version, eliminating the text I highlighted. They also removed the reporters byline name. Well, the damage was already done - the original article had already gone out to newspapers & reprinted in them.

This is not bias of the media, folks - this is outright lying & manipulation of the news by the self-righteous defenders of a free, though irresponsible, press. The so-called reporter should be fired for such shameless breach of ethics. But he won't. This is how it goes with the media - an oops, then on to the next lie. And the AP should publicly apologize for the lie. But they won't. This AP scandal is indicative of what the puffed up, liberal media has been doing for years. They long ago lost their objectivity & expanded their editorial page to include the whole content. The AP should reorganize under the moniker AT - Associated Tripe.

Flip Slips

Flipper John Kerry had a bad month in August. The Swift Boat vets sent a bunch of torpedos his way. Now Kerry is slipping in the polls. Bush's approval ratings are going up also - we will see what bump Bush gets out of the convention. Could this be the end of Kerry? Geesh - we hope so.
