Disloyal to America - Kerry Redux

John Kerry lives in a space/time continuum separate from the rest of the world. He has managed to go from his disloyal-to-America days of the 1970's straight into 2004, skipping the intervening years by way of a worm-hole, & picking up from where he left off. The latest Kerry-Edwards television ad bemoans the problems in Iraq, stating that terrorists are pouring into Iraq, that there are kidnappings & murders & calling Iraq a quagmire. The ad carries a calculated defeatist attitude, designed to invalidate & distort the progress being made in Iraq, since only if Kerry can ignore the positive & accentuate the negative in Iraq can he hope to dispirit Americans & bring voters to his side. This is not only a crass & base attempt at dislodging support for the war with the American voter so that he can realize his egotistical life-long dream of being President, but it is again another shameful act of disloyalty against this country.

But this is nothing new with Kerry. Zoom back through his worm-hole to the '70's in the blink of an eye & we see the same disloyal Kerry during the Vietnam "quagmire", as the anti-war crowd put it. Here we see Kerry again in his attempts to dispirit the country in the middle of a war so that he could make a name for himself & further his political aspirations. His infamous speech to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971 is full of lies, deceits, embellishments & pathetically naive analysis of the Cold War. His claim to fame in that speech was his savage attack on U.S. soldiers, accusing them of war crimes & giving patently untruthful accounts about them brutalizing & sacking Vietnam. Read the speech here.

John Kerry in that speech also disavowed Communism as a world threat & discounted those who saw such a threat as throw-backs to a Cold War mentality. He saw no imminent threat to America & thus no reason to be in Vietnam. He said that America couldn't fight Communism the world over & that we had our Polaris submarines to protect against threats. Little did he realize that 30 years later Communism would be replaced with Terrorism as a world threat & that a Polaris could do little to stop a WMD attack. He had the naive & ignorant view that any type of government is okay, as long as the people get what they want & if they don't then all they have to do is remove that government.

The 1970's Kerry was an oracle of doom & gloom about Vietnam. His testimony & actions undermined the war effort at that time & encouraged the enemy to hang tough. He sought to discredit any notions that the United States was achieving success in Vietnam & repeatedly gave the false impression that the Vietnamese people did not want us there. He held a blind eye to the atrocities of the enemy. He refused to see that what he called a civil war was really a Communist insurgent attack on the South Vietnamese government, backed by an invading North Vietnamese army & supplied by the Chinese & Russians. He was seriously lacking in understanding the geo-political dynamics of those times. But that didn't stop his diatribe against America.

Zoom forward again to the present. In the mush that is his Iraq policy, he again plays the defeatist & naysayer of American policy in an engagement against the bad guys. Kerry would have you believe nothing good is happening in Iraq, contrary to this.

When the Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi came to the U.S. the other day, Kerry responded, "I think the prime minister is, obviously, contradicting his own statement of a few days ago, where he said the terrorists are pouring into the country. The prime minister and the president are here obviously to put their best face on the policy, but the fact is that the CIA estimates, the reporting, the ground operations and the troops all tell a different story." Kerry advisor Joe Lockhardt was even more reprehensible when he said, "The last thing you want to be seen as is a puppet of the United States, and you can almost see the hand underneath the shirt today moving the lips", referring to Bush/Allawi press conference.

Kerry was chided for his remarks by Dick Cheney & others as being negative & unproductive, considering that Kerry as President would have to work with PM Allawi. So much for improving ties with allies as he claims he will do. Consider this response to Kerry.

Kerry is indeed a graceless, little man. And disloyal. His only interest is getting elected & if it takes bashing & undermining the Iraq situation & encouraging the enemy, as he did in Vietnam, then he will do it in a heart beat. The man has no honor.

Secretary of State Colin Powell also says Iraq is becoming a quagmire.

US Secretary of State Colin Powell has admitted the violence in Iraq is worsening, a harsher view of the insurgency than George W. Bush, who said at the weekend the country was making steady progress toward elections.

In the latest violence, a car bomb yesterday killed three Iraqi National Guards in the northern city of Mosul and five people were killed and 46 wounded in US strikes on the Baghdad stronghold of radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

"It's getting worse," Mr Powell told a US television interviewer. "And the reason it's getting worse is that they are determined to disrupt the election. They do not want the Iraqi people to vote for their own leaders in a free, democratic election."

And is not current Vice President Dick Cheney committing an even more heinous act of sabotage or even say treason by saying that future President John Kerry will be weak on terorism? What an invitation to terrorists to attack! Asking for a self-fulfilling prophesy. He and George Bush should get all the blame if the US was attacked after John Kerry becomes President. Despicable!!!

I am not going to hide behind anonymity, I am proud of the way I feel and I respect you for feeling the way you do and that is why I love this country, becasue we can disagree on our feelings.

I was just jumping from one blog to another and was slammed when I read what you have to say. For you to say that Jon Kerry has no honor.. what the hell is that.. this man did not run from protecting his country and hide with daddy. I love listening to people try and bash Kerry but it is not an easy job. I would luv to listen to a bush supportor actually give me 5 great things this "so called" president has done in his term.

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

(1) Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad
guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

(2) Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade
with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

(3) A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation.

(4) Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
Clinton.

(5) The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

(6) If condoms are kep! t out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

(7) Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health
care to all Americans is socialism.

(8) HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at
heart.

(9) Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.

(10) A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable
offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which
thousands die is solid defense policy.

(11) Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

(12) The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George
Bush's cocaine conviction is none of our business.

(13) Being a drug addict is moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and yo! u need our prayers
for your recovery.

(14) You support state s' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft
can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to
adopt.

(15) What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but
what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican.

Thanks for cruising by, JGertin, & for posting. I'll match Bush's 5 accomplishments with 5 from Kerry over his 20 yrs in the Senate. Okay - I'll go easy on ya -only 3 from Kerry. I read you list of Republican foibles. Is there a mass mailing to Liberals on this stuff? It seems every Liberal in the universe has these same talking points.

And yes, Kerry dishonored the country in the '70's with his trash talking, lying hyberbole. There is an honorable way to disagree & the Kerry way. And his trash talking, defeatist way continues with Iraq. What I would give to hear Kerry say one positive thing that's going on in Iraq.

What is the Bush position on Iraq exactly???

Which of these 10 positions that you, your family and your cabinet have taken over the years represents your CURRENT thinking:

1983-88: WE LOVE SADDAM. On December 19, 1983, Donald Rumsfeld was sent by your dad and Mr. Reagan to go and have a friendly meeting with Saddam Hussein, the dictator of Iraq. Rummy looked so happy in the picture. Just twelve days after this visit, Saddam gassed thousands of Iranian troops. Your dad and Rummy seemed pretty happy with the results because The Donald R. went back to have another chummy hang-out with Saddams right-hand man, Tariq Aziz, just four months later. All of this resulted in the U.S. providing credits and loans to Iraq that enabled Saddam to buy billions of dollars worth of weapons and chemical agents. The Washington Post reported that your dad and Reagan let it be known to their Arab allies that the Reagan/Bush administration wanted Iraq to win its war with Iran and anyone who helped Saddam accomplish this was a friend of ours.

1990: WE HATE SADDAM. In 1990, when Saddam invaded Kuwait, your dad and his defense secretary, Dick Cheney, decided they didn't like Saddam anymore so they attacked Iraq and returned Kuwait to its rightful dictators.

1991: WE WANT SADDAM TO LIVE. After the war, your dad and Cheney and Colin Powell told the Shiites to rise up against Saddam and we would support them. So they rose up. But then we changed our minds. When the Shiites rose up against Saddam, the Bush inner circle changed its mind and decided NOT to help the Shiites. Thus, they were massacred by Saddam.

1998: WE WANT SADDAM TO DIE. In 1998, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and others, as part of the Project for the New American Century, wrote an open letter to President Clinton insisting he invade and topple Saddam Hussein.

2000: WE DON'T BELIEVE IN WAR AND NATION BUILDING. Just three years later, during your debate with Al Gore in the 2000 election, when asked by the moderator Jim Lehrer where you stood when it came to using force for regime change, you turned out to be a downright pacifist:

I--I would take the use of force very seriously. I would be guarded in my approach. I don't think we can be all things to all people in the world. I think we've got to be very careful when we commit our troops. The vice president [Al Gore] and I have a disagreement about the use of troops. He believes in nation building. I--I would be very careful about using our troops as nation builders. I believe the role of the military is to fight and win war and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place. And so I take my--I take my--my responsibility seriously. --October 3, 2000

2001 (early): WE DON'T BELIEVE SADDAM IS A THREAT. When you took office in 2001, you sent your Secretary of State, Colin Powell, and your National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, in front of the cameras to assure the American people they need not worry about Saddam Hussein. Here is what they said:

Powell: We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they have directed that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was 10 years ago when we began it. And frankly, they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. --February 24, 2001

Rice: But in terms of Saddam Hussein being there, let's remember that his country is divided, in effect. He does not control the northern part of his country. We are able to keep arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt. --July 29, 2001

2001 (late): WE BELIEVE SADDAM IS GOING TO KILL US! Just a few months later, in the hours and days after the 9/11 tragedy, you had no interest in going after Osama bin Laden. You wanted only to bomb Iraq and kill Saddam and you then told all of America we were under imminent threat because weapons of mass destruction were coming our way. You led the American people to believe that Saddam had something to do with Osama and 9/11. Without the UN's sanction, you broke international law and invaded Iraq.

2003: WE DONT BELIEVE SADDAM IS GOING TO KILL US. After no WMDs were found, you changed your mind about why you said we needed to invade, coming up with a brand new after-the-fact reason -- we started this war so we could have regime change, liberate Iraq and give the Iraqis democracy!

2003: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Yes, everyone saw you say it -- in costume, no less!

2004: OOPS. MISSION NOT ACCOMPLISHED! Now you call the Iraq invasion a "catastrophic success." That's what you called it this month. Over a thousand U.S. soldiers have died, Iraq is in a state of total chaos where no one is safe, and you have no clue how to get us out of there.

Mr. Bush, please tell us -- when will you change your mind again?

What is the honorable way to disagree? The Republican way I guess. It is Laura Bush have a grieving woman who's son died defending the US arrested at a campaign convention! Nice going Laura!
