In September, 2002, a noted Neurologist spent a considerable amount of time examining Terri Schiavo. His conclusions leave enough doubt about the common wisdom of Terri's state that she should immediately have the feeding tube reinstated & a thorough investigation begin as to the condition of Terri & of possible physical injuries which may have caused her disability.

By a vote of 2-1, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against Terri Schiavo's parents and their attempt to resume the feeding and hydration of their daughter. The next step will be an appeal to the full Eleventh Circuit Court or an appeal straight to the U.S. Supreme Court.

UPDATE 5: 26 Mar - Late Saturday the Florida Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal by Terri Schavo's parents. Unless Gov. Jeb Bush has a means, an especially courageous & herculean means to stop the killing, then the culture of death crowd will get their wish.

UPDATE 6: 27 Mar - Easter & all court appeals seem to have been exhausted. Terri's so-called husband begrudingly allowed her Communion after initially not allowing it. Gov. Jeb Bush apparantly lacks the moral courage to intervene, excusing his lack of action as a result of a court order. But that order is questionable when it is in conflict with Florida law.

UPDATE 7: 29 Mar - The Eleventh District court has decided to allow a final appeal by Terri's parents & possible review of the case. Nice of them, but a little late in the day when Terri may have been irreparably harmed already. They should have done this last week.

UPDATE 8: 30 Mar - The Eleventh District court has denied Terri Schiavo's parent's request to have the case reopened. This seems like a cruel joke on the part of the court. Her parents had exhausted all Federal appeals. Then the court said yesterday they are open to hearing another appeal, only to reject it. False hope indeed.

Sexual Offenders & Children A Solution

In the past week Jetseta Gage, 10, of Iowa & Jessica Lunsford, 9, of Florida were kidnapped & brutally murdered by registered sexual offenders. The fact that a suspect in each case was arrested is little solace for the young lives taken & for the families that have to live this horror for the rest of their lives.. Each year brings another crop of pedophile molesters & killers & each year more innocent young lives are taken by what are truly despicable scum.

Sexual offenders must register with the police in the community they live in & anyone can go on-line & check to see if a sexual offender is living in their community. Sounds nice, if the offenders register & if they bother to inform police of a change of address. But parents knowing that a sexual offender is living in their town means nothing other than the fact that the offender is living in town. Oh sure, parents can then take some extra precautions knowing that scum is amongst them. But when an offender registers, he is not guaranteeing to be a good boy. Witness the two registered scum above - it did not prevent them from striking again, this time with murder.

It is a given that children are our most precious human resource. Nothing in this world matters more than protecting them from harm.

It is a given that most pedophiles are not redeemable. Their perverted sexual drive will compel them to repeat their crimes again & again. Recidivism is too high among them to ignore this fact. Incarceration is often a joke. One of the scum above served only 6 years of a 17 year sentence - for good behavior. Yeah, he had to be good - there were no children around.
Those who do serve long prison terms come out & are right back to their perverted ways.

Prison time & registering with the police is insufficient to protect our children from sick perverts who have uncontrollable sexual appetites for children.

There are better solutions. The current way of registering with the police is part of it. Racheting up prison time is another. What will work best & what needs to be done may sound extreme, but if we really care more about our children's right to live over the rights of molesting, murderous perverts, then we will do it.

The solution is this: all convicted pedophiles, beside serving prison time, need to be physically castrated. Some have suggested marking a tattooed "P" on their forehead, but besides readily identifying the pervert, it may cause them to be the target of some people. The best solution is physical castration, not chemical. Chemical castration is reversible, on-going & more expensive. Why should taxpayers have to suffer the burden of a chemical program?

Physical castration is quick & permanent. If the pedophile has uncontrollable sexual urges toward children, then society must relinquish him of those urges. Besides ending the pedophiles predatory ways, castration also sends a clear warning to other would be molesters & murderers. Some may think castration extreme, but what would they have society do? Watch another child's funeral on CNN? If there is going to be a sacrifice, that sacrifice should be with the pedophile & not the children. It does little good catching a pedophile after he's molested or murdered another child.

If society is serious about protecting its children from the likes of predatory scum, then they will seek this solution. Otherwise, there will be more Amber Alerts, more molested & dead children, more tsk-tsking as we watch the news.

Even Cows Have Rights

Terri Schiavo is being denied food & water & is slowly starving to death. That is okay with the courts. In fact it is ordered by the courts. However, justice looks harshly at & moves swiftly against those who would try to starve a cow to death.

In this first case, a Vermont farmer was charged with animal cruelty for not feeding or watering his cows. At least 11 cows died. Due to a warrantless search, he received only a 1 year suspended sentence, 30 days on a work crew & not allowed to own cows for a year. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) had demanded that the farmer be given jail time & psychiatric evaluation.

In the second case, a Florida man faces 120 felony counts for the starvation death of 23 of his cows. He was held on $100,000 bail & faces a maximum of 600 years in prison. The Domestic Animals Services Director called it a "horrific case."

There are no courts, nor People for the Ethical Treatment of Humans looking out for Terri - after all, she's only a human being. If she was a Bald Eagle or a River Pine tree she'd be afforded better protection.

It serves her right for not being born a cow.

Terri Shiavo - Cruel & Unusual Punishment

At the order of a Florida judge, the feeding tubes to Terry Schiavo have been removed. Thus begins the slow starvation death of an innocent. In a matter of weeks, at most, she will be dead.

The contentious point in this whole, long affair has been the statement of her husband, Michael, that Terry had once indicated to him that she would prefer to die under the circumstances she now finds herself in. There was no living will, so we have only his statement. So say he. Do we believe him? In such a life & death matter - no. He may have his own reasons for leading us to believe she would prefer death. Call it inconvenient. He now lives with a woman who considers herself his "common law" wife & has fathered two of her children. Mind you, he is still legally married to Terri. Divorce would seem the answer for him, unless there is some benefit to gain from her death. Meanwhile, he remains her legal guardian & thus at his behest the feeding tubes have been removed. Why he will not relinquish guardianship to her parents is a mystery. They know their child better than he does. They want her to live.

Congress issued a subpoena for Terri & her husband to appear before them. This was an attempt to prolong Terri's life. However, the Florida judge who ordered the feeding tubes removed dismissively ignored the subpoena & now stands in contempt of Congress for ignoring it.

Meanwhile, Terri slowly starves to death. Scott Peterson, recently sentenced to death, will not suffer such a fate. If he is indeed eventually put to death for the brutal murders he committed, it will be by lethal injection - put into a peaceful sleep first. If he was slowly starved to death over weeks time instead, by being denied food & water, you can bet there would be screams of cruel & unusual punishment. But for Terri cruel & unusual punishment is okay.

UPDATE: 21 Mar
Just into Monday morning the House passed legislation to allow Federal court jurisdiction & review of Terri Schiavo's case. The feeding tubes should immediately be put back in place. Now the arguments on whether she should live or die will be presented to that court.

UPDATE: 22 Mar
A federal judge, James Wittmore, on Tuesday refused to order the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, denying an emergency request from the brain-damaged woman's parents. Now the case will go before a 3-judge panel of the 11th District Court. Wittmore, we thinks, failed to follow the intent of a Congressional Bill passed yesterday allowing Federal review of the case. Rather then reviewing the case, Wittmore treated it as an Appeal, stating that Terri's parents had not established a "substantial likelihood of success" at trial on the merits of their arguments. Where is the review of Terri's physical condition & guardianship questions? Rogue judges need to be reigned in & be made to follow, duh, the law.

Kerry Honors Communist

John Kerry is sponsoring a Senate resolution honoring W.E.B. DuBois, a black intellectual who help found the NAACP. The resolution is co-sponsored by Sen. Ted(I need a drink) Kennedy & Sen. Levin.

Dubois (Due-Boyss) ,author of books about race relations, is a contentious choice for this honor. He renounced his U.S. citizenship, joined the Communist party & was thrown out of the NAACP twice. His little gems of wisdom include the following:

North Korea: "the North Koreans are fighting exactly the things for which Americans fought in 1776."

Stalin: a "great" and "courageous" man, "attacked and slandered as few men of power have been." He called the crackdown on religion behind the Iron Curtain "the greatest gift of the Russian Revolution to the modern world."

Nazi Germany: "a nation at work after a nightmare of unemployment; and the results of this work are shown not simply by private profits, but by houses for the poor; new roads; an end of strikes and labor troubles; widespread industrial and unemployment insurance; the guarding of public and private health; great celebrations, organizations for old and young, new songs, new ideals, a new state, a new race." No mention of the concentration camps.

Awards: The Soviet Union awarded W.E.B. Du Bois the Lenin Peace Prize. Maoist China staged a national holiday in his honor in 1959.

Communism: "the only way of human life" and predicted that the free market was "doomed to self-destruction."

Race relations: "Absolutely segregate the races and sections of the world," the author of The Souls of Black Folk boasted in 1933: "I fight Segregation with Segregation." It was these statements which caused the NAACP to expel him.

Why Kerry & his clan would seek to honor DuBois is a mystery. Especially after the drubbing the Democrats took in the '04 elections. You would think they would get smart & clean up the image of the Democrats as a bunch of radical libnuts. But no, they only exacerbate the problem. This is why the Democrats are being quickly marginalized on the national scene.

Senator Robert ByrdBrain Is Full Of Sheet

Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia spoke on the Senate floor about the Republican consideration of a rule change in the Senate that would prevent the never ending Democrat filibusters designed to prevent a floor vote on Bush's choices of Federal judges:

"Many times in our history we have taken up arms to protect a minority against the tyrannical majority in other lands. We, unlike Nazi Germany or Mussolini's Italy, have never stopped being a nation of laws, not of men.

"But witness how men with motives and a majority can manipulate law to cruel and unjust ends. Historian Alan Bullock writes that Hitler's dictatorship rested on the constitutional foundation of a single law, the Enabling Law. Hitler needed a two-thirds vote to pass that law, and he cajoled his opposition in the Reichstag to support it. Bullock writes that "Hitler was prepared to promise anything to get his bill through, with the appearances of legality preserved intact." And he succeeded.

"Hitler's originality lay in his realization that effective revolutions, in modern conditions, are carried out with, and not against, the power of the State: the correct order of events was first to secure access to that power and then begin his revolution. Hitler never abandoned the cloak of legality; he recognized the enormous psychological value of having the law on his side. Instead, he turned the law inside out and made illegality legal."

Thus spake Sen. Byrd, comparing the Republicans to Nazis. Nary a word of his outrageous speech was to be found in the print media or on tv. But the Jewish Anti-Defamation League has spoken out & demanded an apology & condemned his comparison & of his trivializing the Jewish horror of Nazism for political points. Naturally, nary a word from his Democrat cohorts could be found condemning the speech. They will accept any outrage, as long as it is a Democrat outrage.

Readers are reminded that Robert Byrd, besides being the biggest pork barrel pig in the Congress which has cost taxpayers untold billions of dollars, was a proud member of the KKK - Grand Wizard & all. Sen. Byrd waxes eloquent in his speeches, so we present another of his marvelous soliloques here:

"[I will] never submit to fight beneath that banner [the American flag] with a Negro by my side. Rather would I die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." 1947 letter by Robert Byrd. It's time for doddering Robert "Sheets" Byrd to leave the Senate. This self-righteous fool who pontificates on the "evils" of the Bush Administration would, in grander times, probably be found eagerly cheering on in the crowd at the latest Negro lynching, immaculately dressed in his pure white, wrinkle-free hood & sheet. It's time for this jerk to dry up & die - white boy's heaven awaits him.
